Hope the season of giving brings you joy and happiness. On the business side, we have some good news to share! After long hibernation, the elves had risen and did some well needed maintenance to DandyDialer.

Agents Through SIP URLs

As some of you know, DandyDialer’s support for agents connected through a SIP address was broken for a very long time. We finally identified and fixed the problem. You can now put publicly reachable SIP endpoint address (for example, [email protected]) in the number field of an agent.

Note that, to receive calls, you need to have a VoIP softphone (i.e. X-Lite, Zoiper client, Linphone etc.) or a hardware IP phone connected to the gateway that is hosting the SIP address.

Having agents behind SIP addresses can be beneficial to your phone bill as these calls are counted as incoming, instead of outgoing. Also, for hosting the SIP-based agents, you can use a different gateway separate from the one originating the outgoing calls.

Caller-ID Information in X-header

To prevent call-spoofing, most service providers don’t allow making calls through unverified numbers. As a result, in DandyDialer, gateway setups normally need Use campaign caller-id during agent transfer switch to be turned on, making the caller-ID information useless.

To support better integration with CRM software, DandyDialer now puts the caller-ID information in a SIP custom X-header - X-DandyDialer-Lead-Number. Thanks to one of our customers for suggesting this feature.

No More β€˜Invalid Gateway’ Annoyance

From time-to-time, some paid users without dedicated servers had to tolerate the annoying problem where calls sometimes failed with Invalid Gateway error. This was due to a mix of technical limitation and system overload by spam accounts. We have now upgraded our low level infrastructure to solve the problem once and for all.

Agent Call Clarity

DandyDialer now supports RTP bypass during agent call transfer. If you were annoyed by muffled or low-quality voice from agent side, this should greatly reduce that problem.
